The steamed cheeseburger, a beloved and unique regional food, has its roots in Connecticut in the 1940s. It is said to have been invented by jack’s Lunch who owned a small diner in Middletown, Connecticut. in hopes of seeking to create a faster and more efficient way to make burgers, hit upon the idea of steaming the patty and the bun together. He then added cheese, creating the first steamed cheeseburger. The dish quickly gained popularity in the area and remains a staple in Connecticut to this day, with several restaurants and diners offering their own variations on the classic recipe.
Steamed cheeseburgers are now enjoyed by people all over the United States and beyond. While they may not be as widely known as traditional grilled burgers, they have a devoted following of fans who appreciate their unique texture and flavor. The steaming process creates a moist and tender patty, and the melted cheese adds a gooey and savory element to the overall dish. Many steamed cheeseburger enthusiasts swear by the combination of the steamed patty and bun, claiming that it creates a perfectly balanced and delicious burger. Today, steamed cheeseburgers can be found at various diners, drive-ins, and restaurants, especially in the northeastern United States. Some restaurants, have even made a name for themselves by specializing in this beloved regional food.
Our company, Steamed Cheeseburger Maker LLC, was founded in 2020 with the goal of making it easy for people to enjoy steamed cheeseburgers from the comfort of their own homes. Inspired by the delicious steamed cheeseburgers we had eaten at restaurants, we set out to create a product that would allow anyone to easily make their own steamed cheeseburgers at home.
Using our knowledge of the traditional steaming methods used in restaurants, we designed steamed cheeseburger maker trays that were easy to use, easy to clean, visually appealing and of course made delicious steamed cheeseburgers. After three years of development, we had a working prototype by the spring of 2019 and began testing it to ensure that it would produce the best steamed cheeseburgers possible.
Throughout our testing, we also developed a range of recipes for steamed cheeseburgers, including vegan options. In February 2020, we officially registered Steamed Cheeseburger Maker LLC in the state of Connecticut.
We are dedicated to not only growing our business, but also fostering a community of steamed cheeseburger enthusiasts. We hope to make steamed cheeseburgers more accessible and widely enjoyed by all.
